We decided on a 1.6 petrol Sportage 4 last time and would not choose it again. I guess everyone and their needs can be very different but here are my pros/cons Pros Plenty of room, really spacious inside Enjoy the high driving position Good size boot Quite a number of ‘extras’ included which came as standard. These would have been charged as additional add on in other SUVs Cons IMO the finish in the interior is quite cheap looking and feeling Leather seats throughout are uncomfortable Rather dull to drive, 1.6 feels underpowered Some of the included extras are really poor quality, eg rear reverse parking camera. In fact I think the cameras are poor full stop In built Kia Sat Nav is pants MPG is pretty awful, expensive to run After care Service from Kia has been awful but that might be dealer specific We have a manual transmission and the gear box is clunky, steering notchy Happy to answer any specific questions or queries you might have?
Thanks John – great response, I too thought the Kia had a cheap interior but the ‘extras’ kind of won it for me, especially compared to others at that level of AP, and out of the cars we did test drive. Really appreciate all your pros and cons. We would be going for the auto and I too think that our Kia dealer (West London) is far from helpful / responsive and we are only at the investigative stage… you’d think they would be keen for the business, but instead seem far from enthusiastic! Initially this doesn’t bother me as it won’t necessarily be that person we would be dealing with for serving etc. Not a good start though!
I think we’ll take a look at the Tiguan as suggested here by Mark and then make a decision. Ultimately I’d like to keep the AP as far south of £4k with all the bits we’d like!
