There’s absolutely no way on Gods earth that manufacturers and Motability Operations will have universally agreed new terms within a couple of days of the change being announced. Far too soon. And HMRC moves at glacial speed as well. This simply smacks of the usual ‘left hand, right hand’ stuff at Motability, coupled with a website that isn’t fit for purpose.
Whilst I feel very sorry for those who have their heart set on an EV and may now face higher AP’s, I hope that Motability don’t ‘spread’ the extra costs across all AP’s. Motability isn’t an environmental charity and whilst they should offer a wide choice of EV’s, they aren’t practical for everyone. Just as with any choice of car, whether that be fuel type, size, or price, the actual lease costs should be attributed to each specific car. You then do the maths to see what works for you. In other words, ‘you pays your money and you takes your choice’.
