    Yes, mode 2 needs a type A RCD, the latest regs are here.

    Mode 2 chargers have a control box fitted to the lead, but you’ll definitely want to put in some form of circuit protection, if in doubt I’d get the cars owner to get in a proper spark, you don’t want to get blamed for screwing their shiny beamer!
