redpanda, in your case its a simple fix with the dealer and usually they are happy to oblige as its no skin off their nose its a paper exercise. the dealer isnt losing anything. just speak to the dealer he speaks to motability a few keystrokes hey presto. lou, your case is different the dealer has refused to match another dealers discount on the ap thats up to him the only solution there is to cancel and order with the dealer offering the discount. 2 different things.

I spoke to Motability and the dealer this morning and I got two clashing opinions.

Motability’s stance was that, the price I pay is the price on my contract. End of.

VW’s side was that he’s confident he can do something but he’ll need to speak to Germany and see if the advanced payment could be matched or lowered in-line with the changes – I even asked about a dealership discount but again, it’s up to Germany whether they’d do it.

Hopefully I’ll hear next week as to whether I’ll be able to do it. He said, worst case is that the order is cancelled and reordered but this may have a further delay due to re-ordering and re-allocating etc etc.

Would we be penalised for cancelling an order? This is a worry of mine, being new to the scheme. My original collection estimate was also pushed back by another month making my total wait of almost 7 months (was informed it would be 8-12 weeks).

Motability suggested that this is Dealership discretion as to whether they would cancel and you may (not always) incur a penalty/cancellation charge. Speak to your dealer for sure 🙂
