Started motoring in a Morrie Minor. One speedo and fuel gauge. Buttons for start, wipers, lights and choke. Dipswitch on floor and stalk for trafficators. Never did me any ‘arm!
Joking aside, I think there are far too many bleepy flashing thingeys in cars at the moment. Do I really need to know my height above sea level? Must my instrument panel change colour? How essential is a spotlight under driver’s door to remind me which make of car I’ve bought? Further, great arrays of multicoloured touch screens drag my attention away from the road and constitute a real safety hazard.
