    Ah, but English Heritage don’t make any money out of people seeing the Stonehenge from the A303, do they.  They’ve gone to enormous lengths to make the plebs cough up £21.50 to book in advance for the privilege of seeing the stones from behind a rope at a distance of 10 yards.  I think you can still see the stones if you park in Fargo Road, Larkhill (the next village) and then walk.  It’s about 2 miles each way.

    If you want to get closer than you can either visit on Midsummer Day or book a place the Stone Circle Experience for £51.70.
