Lou, I was in the same position as you when I ordered my X2. The salesperson wanted more than half of the AP upfront (inc. options) and told me it was their policy to secure my order when I questioned it.
I don’t think that you’re complaining too much, especially considering your own circumstances. Remember, you’re in the power position here.
