Pretty but cold a.m. Now entirely mixed, some downpours, some brightness. Glad it’s not just us who like the subtitles stuff. Got hooked with Beeb 4 showing Montalbano. Wonderful series, glorious to look at and wildly eccentric stories with a good dollop of humour. Scandiwegian stuff no so scenic – very dark all the time. Nevertheless good tales, mostly. Best we’ve found is German “Tatort” long varied series of cop stories. Plus the Belgian stuff – “Professor T” is eccentric and excellent and, if it gets broadcast again, “The Outlaws” is amazing – about a family of sisters who want to kill the husband of one of them. Darkest, funniest and most entertaining telly we’ve seen for a long time – as, indeed, are most Belgian shows.
