Hi and I hope you are all well as can be. 1 dealer said car was in stock I choose a kia nero hybrid he also said all his checks are OK and we just have to wait for the mobility people to complete the application. How long can this bit take to complete. Is the good condition bonus all or nothing. Can they give you only some back because the car was not in good condition. If you could get finance for the same price you pay now would you take it. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day.
Hello,
It can take 4 working days (the so called 4 day rule) for Motability to do their bit. Plus any time it may need for the dealership to get the vehicle from a compound to the dealership then prepare the vehicle/PDI it etc.
The Good Condition Bonus is practically ‘all or nothing’. However fair wear and tear is permitted, as is damage caused by mobility aids and adaptions. If there is other actual damage to the vehicle, it really needs submitting to Motability’s insurers (RSA) at it may need to be repaired as an insurance claim, or they may class it was fair wear and tear if the damage is only very minor.
It is upto you whether or not you take external finance and buy/lease outside of the scheme. However, remember the Motability scheme includes insurance, servicing, tyres and a generous 60k miles over the 3-year lease is included. Many PCP deals do not include these features. You will need to get pen, paper and calculator out to see what works best for yourself, taking into account your expected costs/mileage etc over the lease period plus the actual price of the vehicle.
