My wifes wheelchair goes in the boot of our MINI Countryman standing up without removing anything, used to lie down in the golf estate I had, but find it easier to lift in vertically, and like @smallcar says just use a bungie cord to secure if needed.
The MINI Clubman is a small estate which would also do a great job with the double rear doors.
