I can remember when I first started driving car recorded on average 25 to 30 mpg only the Mini and Hillman Imp achieved nearer the 40 mpg, fuel tanks on Mini’ and Imp’s around 5 gallons and other 1300 -1600cc cars 8 – 9 gallons max, 200 miles on a tank of fuel in those days was good going.
