Very interesting read Bowly, and I’m pleased you found a combo that suits you well.
I prefer the R Design over the Inscription but you’ve touched on the key thing that’s a hang up for me, the half nubuck trim.
I’m just not a fan of nubuck, and always prefer dark leather as it’s so easy to look after.
When we first looked at the XC40 last year there was no option on an R Design interior, but now full charcoal leather is available for £900 extra, and unlike the Inscription charcoal leather, in the R Design it comes with the dark headliner which I’m very keen on.
Doing only 5000 miles a year we could easily keep it for 5 years, and so thinking about the additional cost over 60 months, in my head I’m telling myself we could sit on full leather for less than £4 a week ?. We’ll make that decision on a different day.
