On average the Treasury gets roughly £28 billion a year from Fuel Duties. Last year that figure was down by c. £1 billion due to the uptake in electric vehicles. The bigger the EV take up, the greater the financial loss. As Britain simply can’t afford to lose that £28 billion I’m sure the Government is eagerly looking at ways to recoup the loss.
At the moment they are madly waving the ‘Save money – buy an EV!’ carrot under our noses. Once enough of us have bought in to the Idea, get ready to be whacked by their really BIG STICK.
