mine run out a couple of weeks ago, applied on line and received it a few days later, they sent an email back straight away for coformation to state my license was being renewed and asked for my passport number to use the photo off it, the only downside is i have to renew it again next year as i reach 70 then.
Same boat here but I was lucky, if you can call it that, because my license had to be changed when I became disabled in 2008 and had no choice but to change to the photo license at a cost to myself that I was not happy about because my paper license ran out in 2021 and had lasted 40 years with no cost but going back to the lucky bit is that the 2008 photo license expired in 2018 and its exactly 3 years to when I hit the Motorway speed limit and have to renew again.
