Hi mike I have now a Volvo xc40 T4 RDesign pro which is a physically bigger car all together it’s higher, wider and I am still getting used to it . fuel consumption is not as good but I was prepared for that.but still getting mid thirties mpg and as for the auto gear box it’s smooth but certainly no better than the toyota .as another member mentioned in this post it’s all about how heavy footed we are .while the Volvo is a heavy solid vehicle and class leading fuel economy cannot be expected, you will have to have a very light foot with the Toyota hybrid otherwise it will always go to petrol running.not a criticism as it a great car
