I’ve seen oil tankers anchored off shore going back about 10 years ago but the reason behind it in my view is they sit there for months on end waiting for the price of a barrel to go up then sell at a bigger profit except now of course they’ve been caught with their knickers down because if there’s any tanker waiting off shore now there load has become near on worthless at the moment.
Today’s average supertankers can hold upto 84 million gallons or more of oil or in barrels that would be 2 million barrels or more so you can see why they would speculate on how long a tanker stays at sea for.
With luck and with the perfection of electric cars in the near future we may, hopefully, one day be rid of these speculating thieves.
