I currently lease my vehicle privately. At the time I got a very good deal on a car that I wanted. However it is more expensive overall than Motability but my AP was considerably less than the majority of vehicles on the scheme. I have to purchase my own insurance but it isn’t expensive. I have it on a fully maintained package so I don’t get any bills for servicing or tyres and the car is under warranty for the duration of the lease.
Now…….. I am getting closer to retirement and with the way things are in the world today I am wondering whether Motability is the way forward. At least if I am prevented from working I will still have a car, my only problem is choosing one I want. I love the Mercedes CLA and have had a test drive but I’m not sure a 1.3 Nissan petrol engine is going to be suitable and hybrid vehicles are definitely a no no. I don’t like the shooting brake which is a shame as it has the excellent 220 diesel engine.
Does anyone have any insider knowledge on what is likely to come onto the scheme in the next couple of months as I will have to make a decision soon on what to do.
