I have used cruise control for the last 25+ years (most HGV’s have had it for decades) and now due to disability I can’t have a car without it, paid extra for ACC on my new car and wish I could turn it off and just have normal cruise back, it leaves too big a gap on motorways even when set to it’s closest setting, when coming up behind a vehicle while doing 70 the distance at which it starts to apply the brakes is huge so you end up pulling out into the next lane about 6=7 hundred yards before you get near, I find I’m constantly feathering the throttle to keep it closer to the car in front when in the outside lane otherwise it brakes and leaves a big gap that everybody else just pulls into.
Normal cruise for me next time and going to see if I can get someone to turn it off for me in the meantime.
