What a terrible situation to be in for all involved. Yes motability have rules and for good reason. That is to prevent abuse of the scheme.
However, Motability need to open their eyes to the genuine user in a situation such as yours. You are clearly trying to do the right thing in caring for your mother, Yet you are being penalised at every turn.
Might I suggest that you make contact with your MP and ask for a meeting with them to discuss the issues you and your mum are facing.
As an alternative you could look at buying a car with you mum’s mobility allowance. Not the best option but it would at least take the mobility car issue out of the equation Should all else fail in getting motability to see reason.
