Ovo Energy brought out SSE, I was with SSE for several years on fixed price contracts, eventually I was paying £110 a month for gas/electric, the cost were constantly increasing despite having a fixed price guarantee. I had a few argument with SSE especially when I asked for a smart meter several time only to be turned down, my property was a new bungalow, SSE said it was not suitable, I ended my contracted and paid a penalty.
I then transferred to Octopus Energy after reading good reports in Which, now paying for the past 18+ months £92.77 a month for a variable tariff, twice they have reduced my tariffs, I have 2 x £100 refunds for overpayment, and now I am over £120 in credit. Octopus fitted smart meters at my request within a month no problem. Off peak charging for EV cars 0.30am to 04.30am 5 pence a kWh.
I am now paying nearly £20 per month less on a variable tariff rather than a fixed tariff, have my smart meters received £200 refund and £120 in credit, give me one good reason to go back to Ovo/SSE ?. Several times a month SSE send me an email asking how they can encourage me to come back?
I will stick with my Octopus Energy I am a very happy satisfied customer, I do not go in for freebee gimmicks.
