Wayne I’m not sure where we will end up, with battery charging or batteries in general. There is £billions being spent on battery tech and design just now and it’s highly likely we will end up with solid state replacing lithium in the near future.
Tesla are about to announce a battery that will last 1,000,000 miles and others are predicting solid state batteries that can fully charge in minutes and will travel 500-600 on a single charge.
Spending £billions on infrastructure is necessary but I fear a lot of it may be wasted as battery technology overtakes charging methods.
