i have only once found a lease agreement that was cheaper than motability and it was a special offer on a jeep rengade ltd auto, £249 deposit and £249 a month with servicing etc for about £10 per month. but you would have to insure etc.
now i am on wpms so that would be a good deal for me.
but the main reason that i use the scheme which may apply to others is that the things wrong with me are degenerative so without surgery etc i am only going to get worse. and as i have found this year the added issue of a slipped disc means that long term my current car wont work for me i need something easy to get in and out of. and motability agreed immediately that i could change before my current lease is up if i want without penalty other than losing the gcb.
a private lease wouldnt do that.
as it happens as i have done even less miles than usual i have scraped by without too much issue. i just need to manage things for another 9 months but at least the option is there and gives me that peace of mind and that is worth a lot.
with all the furore over electric/hybrid and the demonisation of deisel and big petrol engines i think the whole industry and by extension the scheme will have several years of flux and choice will be reduced for a while unfortunateley.
i am just hoping the bmw i3 comes down a bit more and the mini countryman and nissan juke do the same if they are still there or there abouts come july when i need to order i will be happy lol.
