Hi all, very interesting comments about Terraco/Tiguan needing a Diesel engine, I’ve just been commenting on another thread about the Sharan/Alhambra which are bigger ,heavier vehicles. Some feedback is saying the 1.4 petrol engine can pull these vehicles, although mpg isn’t good. Surely the 1.5 petrol engine can pull the Terraco/Tiguan, or does anyone disagree? I am very interested in this point as I am changing in the new year and as my diesel Alhambra clogs up and gives poor mpg around town, I am considering going petrol. However I still need a large vehicle , which traditionally has meant diesel, then along came DPFs!! Diesels like being warmed up and doing the miles. Any thoughts appreciated. Regards, wonky

To be totally honest with you, Wonky, It baffles me when I hear people say the 1.4TSi is powerless in a big SUV.  I’ve had my Kodiaq SE L 1.4TSi coming up to two years now.  In that time I’ve never experienced any power loss, gutless performance, or any trouble overtaking. Even when I’ve been loaded with 22 75lt bags of compost, it just zips along.  I came back to petrol as I only do about 6,500 a year and I was worried about loss of toque, but I can say, only from my Kodiaq experience, that I need not have worried.  I would have no qualms about recommending this petrol engine.
