Year 3 service

Had dash warning a few weeks ago re service due.

Spoke to dealer and discussed as heard MB not doing year 3 now but they booked it in for tomorrow.  Just as about to leave for the hour journey to take car in and get curtesy car they rang to say MB don’t want it done.

Personally no skin off my nose but

      1) I get message every time I start car saying service overdue plus a little up spanner symbol on dash permanently. Really would like this cleared, at best it’s annoying, at worst it’s distracting.

      2) Ordered next lease car 5th Feb but told earliest June but could be as long as Aug / Sep so I want something in writing to say they stopped the service in case car gets problems. I’m sure I’ve had some from MB say book service if warning comes up.

3 Will be getting in touch tomorrow to ask for confirmation and also find out how long before they actually do want it serviced – if at all.

I had this nonsense with a VW Tiguan through Motability. VW set the cars up for standard or extended service intervals. Our car was set up for standard whereas Motability will only pay for extended servicing (less frequent). The dealer was able to reset the servicing light for me so that it wasn’t illuminating.

There’s no point in asking them to put anything in writing. It’s a lease car so whatever goes wrong is down to them anyway, regardless of the cause!

My plan is to go on live chat tomorrow, if necessary I can do the old screenshot ploy.

Nearest Citroën dealer is a bloody hour away so bit of a ball ache just to get light removed. Probably need to book in for 3 weeks time.

            General Procedure for Most Models
            Switch the ignition off.
Press and hold the button for resetting the trip distance or the button at the end of the left stalk.
Switch on the ignition while continuing to hold the button.
The display will start a countdown.
Release the button when the display shows “=0” or “0”.
Turn the ignition off and then back on to confirm the light is gone.

Just ask the dealer for the how to disable the service light.

I hadn’t realised it was possible, thought it was a dealer computer thing.

Have already found a YouTube vid thanks

It’s a c5x, TBF 1st ever Citroën and been quite impressed. Had a few gremlins occasionally with infotainment stuff but nothing turning off and back on didn’t fix.

Biggest issue is bloody yanky voice and terms like highway instead of motorway and after 3 years have never received OTA update to get civilised voice and Citroën UK customer service is shocking.

Anyway, seen plenty of YouTube vids and websites with instructions to reset. Haven’t had chance to sort yet but looks simple enough.

I had the same with my last car at a month before the end of lease, dealer rings me to make an appointment for the service that the car was displaying in the infotainment centre and they said its has to be done because the car is telling them it must be done because their getting telemetry from the car that it must be done.

I talked to them until I was blue in the face as they just would not have it that MB will not pay for the service.

I got so annoyed with them I took the car to KwikFit for the MOT and as I was changing from VW to Ford I never went back to them again.

That said they phone me again a week after changing cars about having the MOT done as it’s illegal not to have one. It beggars belief that they don’t understand MB rules when it comes to services.

It was easy to reset the car so I wasn’t badgered by the car every time I got in it that last month.
