At least the Renault is more akin to the old model unlike the Capri. I’m bathled why manufacturers resurect old names and not come up with something more fitting to the modern world!
Sure you didn’t mean that you’re showerled? I do agree though. I am not entirely against reviving old names, but it has to be done “in honour” of the footsteps it follows. The new Mustang, as an example, is actually a good example. The Mustang Dark Horse looks stunning, and very reminiscent of the original Mustang – as opposed to the Mach E (or other, older Mustangs, like Mk2, Fox bodies etc). The Capri should’ve been a smallish 2+2 seater sport rig, with maybe 220hp – akin to an EV version of the BRZ/86 maybe. If it had to be EV. The Mach E is just called Mach E as far as i’m concerned. The Kuga.. Well, the Cougar isn’t as iconic i guess, i still liked it, but at least they didn’t copy the spelling, so one can pretend that they didn’t try to rip off the name. That all said: the Ford ID5 is a lovely car. We very much enjoyed the test drive, the reason we are going with the Explorer is mainly that it doesn’t fit properly in our parking bay (and the Explorer drives sportier/feels considerably stouter than the Capri despite having the same motor/battery – measurably, in fact). It looks good, i personally like the interior and don’t find the tech too intrusive or distracting, it’s well kitted – just an all around good choice, so well done – hope you’ll enjoy it. PS: Kezo, baffled.
edit: as a sidenote, our salesman was very quick to point out the only two “capri-esque” additions to the Capri – the bottom spoke on the steering wheel, and the rear side window – which he explained with a sigh, lol.
I sware I’m going doolally😂
