Neither of them are actually 4×4 in the proper sense, they are partial all wheel drive.  It only comes on below a certain speed (20kph) if the car thinks it’s needed, there is no permanent all wheel drive from software version 4.0 onwards.

As for the ID4 vs the Enyaq, I sat in an ID4 and went for the Enyaq, there was simply no comparison in build quality or design.  I’d also look at the new Elroq, almost identical to the Enyaq but with a slightly smaller boot and shorter overall length, wheelbase is the same though.  There is an 85X version coming at somewhere near the end of this year, the RS version is coming first.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

I have to concur fully, the interior finish of the Enyaq is head and shoulders above the ID.4.

In a review someone (can’t recall who but it was a reputable reviewer) put the Enyaq, ID4 and Audi Q4 head to head and came to the conclusion that unless the only things you cared about were the badge or screen properly integrated in the dash (in the Audi), the Enyaq was a no-brainer and definitely the best overall

One thing to call out though: both VM and Audi use (as of 2022 at least) Mobileye system, whilst Skoda have their own.

there is no doubt that the interior of the skoda looks better than the ID but…   not a fan of the cruise controls being on a 3rd stalk on the left side.   The skoda also has the gear selector in the centre console and i like them on the steering column to free up space.  i think the central entertainment unit on the ID looks and works better and last gripe the cup holders in the Skoda are too narrow to fit a variety of cups

update 05.06.25  VW have launched the black editions.   it doesnt rival the sportline still but does the edition model.   the VW black edition now has black pack, (roof bars, side mouldings, mirror caps, alloys 19″) inside it has upgraded seats with massage, lumbar and seat movement all electric.   there is also a pan roof.   for me that is the car i would pick if it were to appear on the Q4 price list this year
