Hi all,
Thought I’d ask on a separate thread for wider visibility.
Q. I’m wondering if anyone has recently (successfully) managed to order an ID4 (or any ID) from stock?
I visited a Lookers VW on Saturday March 9th, signed for a Stock ID4 Life Pro and was told the next working day that VW UK have changed the way they allow Motability orders, and they can no longer reserve retail stock for Motability.
Q. Has anyone found this to be the case? Is it set in stone?
Doesn’t seem good if so, I would need to order the exact same car and wait for a build, when there is one sat 90 miles away waiting to be sold.
Thanks

I have been told the same from lookers and Pullman , also told can’t order until any car until model update
March 12, 2024 at 3:18 pm #268255Thanks for the response, was really hoping that wasn’t the case.
The specialist at my specific dealership told me he’s raised a formal query with VW UK to see if there is anything we can do, considering the car is still available to order for factory build and there’s one sat right there waiting.
Really wanted out of the MG4 sooner rather than later

Can I ask when you ordered?
Looks like both Pulman VW and Lookers VW they aren’t able to order ID’s from stock now for Motability. But may have to broaden my search distance if other dealerships are still able to.

I’m assuming the only exception to this is when there is a cancelled Motability order that just happens to be available at the time of ordering, I would have thought though this would go down to the ‘next person’ on the list of Motability orders, though.

The newer upadated version listed on motabilty has only just now started arriving in the UK. I placed a order for a style pro 15th feb and its being built last week of march.

Isn’t the Match the newer version seen on VW site, which is missing the sunroof of the Style listed by Motability along with the Life models?
Hence the reason everyone wants to get jold of a Style from stock, as surely a factory build will now be a Match model.
Could be wrong of course.
March 15, 2024 at 12:27 pm #268478its the MY23 or MY24 that decides the model and the motability order.
Granted VW do things differently and seem to be upside down right now after being shafted by China, their biggest market.
Hopefully they get their production problems solved and shorter wait times.

Must have missed this but, how did China shaft VW?
March 15, 2024 at 12:58 pm #268488I’ll let you know what happens with mine. 12th feb all ok but it’s arrived too early now it looks like I’m going to lose the car and they’re unsure what they can replace it with. The new match trims are no good for me they lose heated seats. I should hear today. If I cannot have id5 style pro old model im moving back to the Audi which was my first choice but I wavered on AP but my circumstances have changed so I’m happy to pay it now for what I want
March 15, 2024 at 1:10 pm #268491March 15, 2024 at 1:34 pm #268499@kezo in fairness they’re trying very hard to. But I think there’s so many people scrambling to get the old model before the match trim launches they’re coming against a lot of pressure. I absolutely cannot fault the dealer.

My car is a style and is just about to be built, dealers was still allowed to order them from factory even tho the match has replaced them.
March 15, 2024 at 5:00 pm #268512Think there is some confusion among customers and dealers alike regarding the ‘Match’ trim, and how/what you can order.
At this point in time you can order – ID4 210kw 82kWh Life Pro @ £999, or ID4 210kw 82kWh Style Pro @ £1499. The dealer can use a different system to order the Life/style trims for Motability. Likely be changed to the newer Match trim in the next quarter – which is the one you can order as a retail customer.
However, I was told that the car that was in stock in Leeds, which I ordered (unsuccessfully) was in actual fact a 2024 210kw ID4 Life Pro, so there is no difference from the one I could order from factory.
Ended up going the factory order route, for the Style Pro as I like the Pano roof and the rear tints and bodywork additions.

ok they’ve rung and said that this ID5 is going to be allocated to me and will be mine but were vague on the registration number and haven’t updated the motability account to say its arrived and pick up 11th May. So whilst I’m obviously relieved I’m still a little unsure , this is my first renewal so I’m not sure of the process ( the car arrived 10 days ago)

Thats brill!
It can only be a 24plate with the car arriving after 1st March?
March 17, 2024 at 2:54 pm #268619was told the next working day that VW UK have changed the way they allow Motability orders, and they can no longer reserve retail stock for Motability.
If this is true, I suspect, unless Motability’s contract with the manufacturers stipulates a treatment for their customers that is not equal, that this could very well breach the Equality Act 2010.
March 17, 2024 at 6:48 pm #268653Very much could breach the equality act, I contacted Motability customer support to ask if this was standard practice for VW orders, or if it was unfair. Obviously the response was neither confirming nor denying the practice being unfair or against the Equality Act.
Definitely seems like it.

The new structure applies to Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Seat/Cupra, Škoda, and Audi. Retail and Fleet sales will be through a direct sals model.
More so, it shouldn’t have any impact on A Motability or other customer securing a vehicle from stock. To back this up, there is an Audi sales manger (Nathaniel) who his regularly updating his thread with Q4 Etron “stock”, which is available to Motability customers.
March 17, 2024 at 9:30 pm #268668Also backing that up, I almost ordered a stock Cupra Born which would have been with me within days, but was put off by the range and lack of 5th seat in the larger battery car.
Makes no sense (to me) for VW to not allow Motability orders for stock vehicles but the rest of the VW group, do.

Im in a cupra born facebook group and i believe if you factory order a born you’ll get a 5 seat one with the larger battery, its something there adding after april builds i think.
