March 5, 2024 at 9:50 am #260213I agree I have mercedes cla 180 sb ,worst car I’ve had on motability , Mercedes company ,I can’t find words to explain how bad they are ,this car alarm goes off when open door ,hate it , today its supposed have service they said they would collect car early ,so up at 6am ,its now nearly 10 ,no car collected , I would never ever have mercedes car again , the company don’t care about customers .
March 5, 2024 at 9:54 am #260215I would advise any motability customer stay clear of mercedes, my car was pandemic issue I could not see it drive it , waited over 1 year ,my dealership sales rep was good ,but that’s the only thing I can say good about mercedes. I hopefully have an answer to this thanks to motability .
March 5, 2024 at 9:55 am #260216Mercedes cla 180 sb is totally unsuitable for disabled wheelchair user , I’m gratefull to of got car yes. But this car is mess.
March 5, 2024 at 10:12 am #260218My car has been collected for service the Mercedes man said he was so fed up working for such rubbish company , he said he hates them too . One odd thing MERCEDES CUSTOMER CARE UK, is in Holland, when ever you contact them, everytime everything its 1 month wait for reply ,then they say ask dealership, those that never answer phone. I will be gratefull to pass on this cla 180, thankyou motability bless you.

I’d inform Motability of the car being x miles from where you thought it would be.
March 5, 2024 at 11:05 am #260223Mercedes bristol was fantastic with servicing used to get e class coupes and huge GLE 350cdi suvs for the day, but cardiff on other hand was rude and didn’t want to bother and it was our nearest one.
March 5, 2024 at 11:13 am #260226I’m going to buck the trend a wee bit here.
I have a Mercedes A Class, had it since Christmas time 2021.
They (Glasgow Giffnock branch) , from the point of sale, now 2 annual services, providing a courtesy car when I was involved in a car crash just before Xmas there.
Constant updates. And all very friendly.
Maybe the other Scottish branches should go along and have their training done in Giffnock.
Been 1st class.
March 5, 2024 at 11:18 am #260227I must say, I have had the total opposite experience with Mercedes Edinburgh East.
I have a B180 which I got because it is higher off the ground than the A Class’ for easier and less painful ingress/egress and has pretty much the same interior room as the C Class’. It has been an amazing car and they have been amazing throughout the lease.
I have never had to contact anyone except the dealership for services and MOTs. I got it about a week before the first lockdown. When they call me up to book services, they know I am a Motability customer and ask If I want it picked up and delivered back. If not, they initially said I would get an A Class as a courtesy car. I asked them if they had another B Class or SUV type that was higher off the ground – that was only the first time because each time after that when they called they would know and tell me I was what car I was getting because of my needs. The courtesy cars varied from GLAs and GLCs.
A few months ago the engine light came on and I called them up to book it in. After I gave them the Reg No, they said they would send a tech out to my house that afternoon to check and fix it because I was a Motability customer. He came, checked the car, and said it needed a software update and he would arrange to have it booked in and to call again if the light turned red. Two days later they called me up to say they were delivering a courtesy car and would pick up my car to go to the workshop the next day. They then fixed the car brought it back and took away the courtesy car.
When the three years ran out on the tech services the car came with, I never renewed because it was £379. I didn’t think it was worth it. When it went for its next service and I picked the car up, they told me they had renewed the services for a year on the house as I was a Motability customer.
I currently have a Volvo XC40 on order and the Volvo Sales Executive is already lying through her teeth in emails – it looks as though my journey with my local Volvo dealership will be similar to yours with your Mercedes dealership, which is worrisome.
March 5, 2024 at 11:31 am #260229Glad it’s been OK for you John David, my car in for serviceparked mile from dealership could be as they have building work going on so need temporary hanger space.
March 5, 2024 at 11:32 am #260230<p style=”text-align: left;”>Before motability I had new volvos, very rude unhelpfull, stopped useing dealership in end.</p>
March 5, 2024 at 11:34 am #260232Well, I think John and me have showing the best way to get a Mercedes without all the ? stress.
A wee weekend break up to Scotland (have a couple of fantastic nights out), then with hangover guaranteed, hit one of Scotland 10/10 fabulous dealerships, and arrange a wee branch transfer of then ordered car.
How I got mine. Mines was on order, not expecting the car till around the March 2022, then out the blue, they called me early December 2021, to offer me one within 3 weeks, transfered I believe, from a branch near Birmingham.
I said fine, and 3 weeks later picked up the new car. They explained to me at the time, due to part shortages, they felt my supposed March 2022 day wasn’t going to happen, so thinking outside the box, they looked at all the orders on their books, and then found cars where they could, from other branches, to fullfil their orders with least hassle to their customers.
Well done Mercedes.

I think it is down to the dealership, but I haven’t had to contact Mercedes corporate customer service.
I’m documenting in detail my Volvo journey before taking it further if required, but I shouldn’t have to.
Interestingly, I even mentioned in an email yesterday that:
“We appreciate that we are only Motability customers and not as profitable to the dealership as a normal retail customer and therefore like many other Motability users, we don’t expect the same customer service experience as the more profitable retail customer. In furtherance of this and to allow ample time for your response, I usually wait at least a week before sending a reminder email, although my xxxx asks me several times every day whether a reply has arrived.”
In her reply, she never even denied that this was the case.
March 5, 2024 at 12:35 pm #260243Yes interesting , I look forward to getting replacement car soon I hope . I often hear motability customers get different treatment to other customers, I did get that with volvo, and I’ve said enough about mercedes , I visited kia dealership recently looks, the motability there where ,so nice friendly .
March 5, 2024 at 2:42 pm #260263I often used to enjoy takeing my car in for service ,it was done while waited ,looked at new cars on show ,couple cups coffee.
Not with mercedes , this dealership does not even have disabled access, why they collect return it. Mercedes are what they are ..
March 5, 2024 at 2:56 pm #260273unless its a very odd premises’ then they are probably breaking law
Current Car: Hyundai Kona Premium EV...2 way 40kg hoist
Last Car: Toyota C-HR Excel Hybrid...4 way 80kg hoistMarch 5, 2024 at 4:27 pm #260275I had an excellent customer/ownership experience with Mercedes Teeside when I had my CLA.
Only disappointment that they haven’t returned to the scheme. I would have definitely used them again.
March 6, 2024 at 7:44 am #260363I’ve had a B Class For nearly 3 years and I can’t fault the car or Mercedes Blackpool. Only had to deal with the service department and they have been great. Car booked in for a 3 year service in a couple of weeks and I’m hoping they give me an EQA for the day like last time. That was great fun. Just a pity Mercedes are not back on the scheme.
March 6, 2024 at 9:51 am #260373Well that’s good ,but not all of us got that ,cla is different to b class of course.
March 6, 2024 at 1:04 pm #260395Well that’s good ,but not all of us got that ,cla is different to b class of course.
There was nothing wrong with my CLA Micky.
It seems that most of your problems stem from the car not being right for you in the first place with your wheelchair access and so on. I’m guessing you just ordered the car under lock down without a test drive and it’s not been a good fit since.
Give Motability a call and they’ll terminate your lease early if you’ve still got a length of time to run.
March 6, 2024 at 1:24 pm #260402I’ve just changed my CLA and I loved it. Mine was in October 2020 and was a cancelled order so I picked it up straight away, which was the only way I would have got one at the time due to problems that had just started with semiconductors. I can understand why some customers were annoyed as they ordered premium plus but most the features were missing. I didn’t have the best of times with the dealership, but I couldn’t knock the car, apart from bad mpg.
March 6, 2024 at 1:27 pm #260403Phil you are so correct , it was pandemic car ,I could not see or test drive the car ,was ripped of by paying for extra items I never got ,its true when I say mercedes informed me at time ,accept car or don’t we can sell it anyway, no adjustment for xtra items paid for but not recieved ,many other problems from them I won’t go into. I have spoken to motabilty they have accepted for me to change car, I have today test driven kia sportage gt line s hev petrol AWD done extensive research into this model, placed order has been accepted assured delivery june ,2025 model, order accepted ,above explained by kia motability the best honest polite reps I have ever dealt with . Am pleased thankyou ,good luck to you all with your cars .
