Yeah, bmw always a bit slow on the tech front. Btw Kezo, can you recommend a consumer unit, so I can show the sparky, what we need. Anything form screw fix etc, or trade places, cheers
To replace your dated Wylex?
It depends on whether a split load (dual RCD) or single RCD conumer unit will fit or whether you want to use MCB’s or have a main switch and RCBO’s (indvidual RCD’s kind) which are at the expensive end but, will trip individual circuits rather than the whole or part house with the other 2 options.
You will need to have an isolater fitted by the electrician or when you have the charger fitted, so space will be required for that.
You are best leaving it to your electrician to decide as he will see the exact space you have. Depending on budget I would fit crabtree, MK or BG or Chint. (I will look later at some options)
A 9 module 7 way consumer unit would allow for either a RCD and 7 MCB’s or a main switch and 7 RCBO’s which would be the smallest suitable to allow for an EV charger useing a type “c” MCB or RCBO, the other 6 would be type B as per the existing ones.
Hope this helps.
