I had the same problem with mine. Needed a new steering wheel fitted, this sorted the issue
Came here to say this! Same thing on my Golf. Maybe it was the clock spring iirc. Necessitated two 30 mile round trips to show them the error, it was then that I realised that my next car wouldn’t be from them! Haha
Then they put it back on wrong and it was a palaver during COVID ?? oh my God I hate cars.
