It seems to me that some manufacturers are using the “chip shortage “ excuse for a lot of problems they are having not connected with chips.

Europe/EU are the worse and peugeot has got to be near the be top of list with German cars. Alot of the problems will be based on Ukraine wiring harnesses along with all the bureaucracy in the EU making them  move at snail pace to find alternatives. On the other hand Vauxhall/Opel now under the Stellantis group same as Peugeot don’t seem to be having any where near the problems and still cme with charging pads on ultimate spec. Infact the only thing missing and now a chargeble is the night vision.

Other markets such as Asia have not really had a problem. My  Hyundai Tuscon Ultimate made in Czech came with every extra incuding both heated and ventlated seats electric tailgate etc with nothing missing. Nissan UK I don’t believe have had any problems as such.

Back in the day when I worked as a electro/mechanical engineer at the Michelin, I can remember just in time (JIT) coming in big time. We always said if there was a breakdown in any part of the chain we would be fooked. During the pandemic that chain broke down in more ways than one. Different companies will recover at different rates depending how quickly that chain can be repaired with all the missing links.
