Paul+WebbHi All
With all the shortages that are currently effecting supply i started to wonder and worry a little about the next car we are waiting for, we have a e2008 on order and have ordered the GT spec version, we ordered that as we wanted a few of the features that we can only get on that spec level, the heated seats for one. anyway if the car turned up say without that feature or others i consider import and why i ordered that spec level can i say no thank you and walk away and order another car from a different supplier or must i take it? if so and the spec is lower what happens about the AP. if the few features i want dont end up on the car i would have ordered the lower spec version and saved on the AP at the time i ordered,
thanks

Hi there. Until you enter your PIN number you have the choice. It would be better however, if the sales team were to contact you beforehand to discuss any changes to spec.
I’m quite sure they’d be quite happy if you walked away as they would then be able to sell it for more money than Motability would pay.
Bare in mind you’d have to re-apply for a new car through the scheme.
November 6, 2022 at 10:41 am #199915The ap would remain the same as when you first ordered, unlessit has reduced since ordering.
If the car turned up with a lower spec than when you ordered you will be entitled to cancel it.
Rather than waiting for it to turn up why dont you contact the dealer and ask what if any spec as changed. That way if it doesn’t meet your requirements you can cancel before the car arrives and get an order in sooner with another manufacturer.

Paul+WebbThanks for the replies guys, the dealership we ordered from seem confident that we would get the ful spec GT, the first dealership we looked at didnt fill us with confidence at all, they didnt even have ANY cars on show there, just Peugeot white vans, he told me not to order the GT spec as it wouldn’t come with a spec anything like level it should. his comments seemed Stange and to be honest we didnt get a ‘good feeling’ about the place, the second dealership over in Telford seemed a better place, a proper show room full of cars, both the electric and the petrol 2008 there to test drive and seemed busy with people looking around cars. let hope hes right and we get the GT spec as ordered ( and AP agreed on)
We will not get it until March so its wait and see……
cheers
Paul
November 6, 2022 at 5:19 pm #199941From what I’ve read elsewhere heated seats/steering wheel/wireless phone charging are most likely to be missing. Hope this helps.

Paul+WebbIf it doesn’t come with a steering wheel its certainly going back!

Make sure it has an engine and not pedals 🙂
Give your dealership a ring and put your ind to rest.

ldc7080i think you will be fine . from what i heard about Peugeot orders only the GT premium were subject to changes and that related to power seats. Peugeot to be fair to them quickly took the premium off the range.
November 9, 2022 at 11:09 am #200090I picked up my Peugeot 308 GT Premium last Friday the 4/11/22 Items missing where as follows.
1. Heated wind screen.
2. Phone charge plaate
3. i-cockpit 3D screen.
Everything else is there like heated seats and heated steering wheel.
To be fair. You would be hard pressed to find any car on the scheme that does not have something missing due to chip shortages.

I’m tending to look at cars much more critical now as I get older and my RA gets worse.
November 9, 2022 at 7:40 pm #200105To be honest the heat screen was a big issue for me. However the BMW x2 never had one and I managed quite well without it. So it lessened the hit of it being missing on the Peugeot 308 somewhat.

joss, just wondering if the screen could be retro fitted by a dealer at a later date?
November 10, 2022 at 11:26 am #200120I did write to Motability about the missing items.Their reply was “If I was not happy with the car, due to the missing items, then reject the car.” I also contacted Peugeot UK regarding compensation. That got know where.
The dealership refused to compensate as it was a manufactures problem due to chip shortages.
@Fastbike1000 It would be nice if they did, but some how I can’t see it happening. Same goes for the other missing items.Joss

Thats the issue today. Everyone passes the buck and you have to go round in circles.
retrofitting the screen would require a new screen, but it wouldn’t be as simple as that. Given the screen itself wouldn’t need a chip says there are modules and switch gear missing if indeed thewiring loom is in place.
However the equipment missing are niceties to have but aren’t the be all and end all and certainly does not distract the looks or fubctionality of the car overall.
Hope your enjoying it 🙂

Europe/EU are the worse and peugeot has got to be near the be top of list with German cars. Alot of the problems will be based on Ukraine wiring harnesses along with all the bureaucracy in the EU making them move at snail pace to find alternatives. On the other hand Vauxhall/Opel now under the Stellantis group same as Peugeot don’t seem to be having any where near the problems and still cme with charging pads on ultimate spec. Infact the only thing missing and now a chargeble is the night vision.
Other markets such as Asia have not really had a problem. My Hyundai Tuscon Ultimate made in Czech came with every extra incuding both heated and ventlated seats electric tailgate etc with nothing missing. Nissan UK I don’t believe have had any problems as such.
Back in the day when I worked as a electro/mechanical engineer at the Michelin, I can remember just in time (JIT) coming in big time. We always said if there was a breakdown in any part of the chain we would be fooked. During the pandemic that chain broke down in more ways than one. Different companies will recover at different rates depending how quickly that chain can be repaired with all the missing links.

AnneHi,
This exact thing happened to us. Ordered a Peugeot 3008 GT line premium, or whatever it’s called, the top spec. Specifically for the electric tail gate and the heated seats.
Car arrived in May. No heated seats, manual seat adjustment all missing. Rejected the car, the dealership were not bothered about either trying to fix the issue or even re order with the right stuff without the up charge.
walked away and ordered a Kia Sportage – still waiting though.
November 11, 2022 at 10:31 am #200193That dealer was probably wringing his hands at the thought of all the extra profit he was about to make selling the car to the public.

Yup some silly sod will buy it at list price for the GT Premium price. I hope Anne refused it after it was registired ?
At least she will get all the extras she wants on the Kia

TomIf the Dealer has registered your car before you put the PIN number and you haven’t paid the AP yet, they are in a tricky situation if you refuse. They would have to sell the car at a reduce price because technically the new owner would actually be the second owner. You could negotiate a substantial amount off of your AP and a full tank of fuel if you still wanted the car and they would be happy to do that. It would be a better hit for them than making a bigger loss on a registered car with 1 owner.

November 11, 2022 at 4:52 pm #200236dealers can de-register a new car if the sale falls through https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1051137/v996-application-for-de-registration.pdf
The dealer would have to contact the orignal buyer which the vehicles VIN and registration was attached to and request a letter with this information including their full name and address, comfirmation and why the sale didn’t go through. Would an angry peeved customer do this if they didn’t get the car they ordered?
November 11, 2022 at 5:14 pm #200240I forgot to add. A vehicle cannot be de-register a vehicle if incorrect specification ordered/delivered which in this case that rule shall apply because the specification of the vehicle ordered was not delivered using the V996.
This is all hypothetical as we don’t know at what stage the op canceled. My brother canceled a BMW 3 series 4 years ago mainly because of the colour. The car got re-registered into the dealers name and sold as an ex demo.
