What colour will your next car be?
I like to change the colour of my cars for no particular reason. Am I alone or do you stick with the same colour??
Do you prefer dark or light colours?
I usually go for darker colours.
Skoda Enyaq Race Blue

i confess i have had 4 cars in british racing green 2 minis 2 older mg’s.
i do like dark green. others have tended to be black or red.
a particular favourite was a toyota mr2 mk1 in mica blue a dark blue that literally sparkled it had flecks in the paint gorgeous in the sun.
next car if i go for the mazda will prob be their loveley red.
cant stand grey, silver or white which seems to eliminate half the colours available these days.
October 8, 2022 at 8:36 am #197807Current car is “lava blue”, the next one is moonstone (flat) grey. I like to switch it up, if i get the option.
The only shade i’d rule out is black, it’d drive me nuts to see every tiny little mark on it immediately.

I have that now and it is the most amazing colour, so rich, deep and liquid like. It’s why I got the car!!

October 8, 2022 at 9:03 am #197811the cx 5 is near the top of my list at the moment mainly because of the colours they offer there are about 3 or 4 i really like, even though to be honest the car is much bigger than i need.
October 8, 2022 at 9:07 am #197812My first MB car was yellow ?
Next was metallic brown
Then yellow again
Current car is white, not my choice but saved me 3.5k on AP
Car on order is tri-coat red, first time I’ve ever paid extra for paint.
If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

October 8, 2022 at 9:22 am #197813Normally I go for the colour that suits the car. On the scheme the first car was Mazda in grey, ford in grey as well, Vauxhall zafira in high spec brown – looked beautiful when clean but drove me crazy when I saw scratches which stood out like a sore thumb thanks to the light undercoat. Plus it was easily scratched. Renault was white which it looked good in plus could not easily see any scratches. Don’t think there were many. Current car is white as well.
October 8, 2022 at 10:10 am #197817I do try to pick a colour that suits the car, to my eyes anyway. I usually start with the manufacturers configurator then go to a dealer to double check, then I ask the wife if that colour is ok?.
At the moment we have a X1 in white and the next car as also been ordered in white with a black roof.
October 8, 2022 at 10:19 am #197820it seems to me most manufacturers offer a sea of white/silver and grey. several versions of each.
ive struggled to find colours i like in some of the cars in my long list. the best ive come up with is:
mazda soul red
nissan deep burgandy
citroen c3 aircross pepper red
peugeot 3008 celebes blue or ultimate red
renault captur worst choice ever best of a bad lot iron blue
suzuki vitara solar yellow
mokka black or mamba green
crossland hot red or black
October 8, 2022 at 10:25 am #197823We wanted petrol blue, but supply dried up due to Covid and the chip shortage. We managed to get one that a fleet had cancelled, it was boring grey, but we got it in around 6 weeks.

October 8, 2022 at 11:11 am #197833In general, dark metallic grey is my favourite at the moment.
In general, I like black, but it’s impossible to keep nice. Its not just hard to keep clean, as soon as you start to clean it there’s swirls and minor scratches, chips etc.
In general I love silver. Easiest colour to look after and I like the fact that it looks almost unpainted, i.e. it’s just a nicely buffed piece of steel/aluminium.
The reason I’ve wrote “in general” thrice is because different cars really do suit different vehicles. For example my most recent car (Sportage GTLS) has lots of gloss black features which imo look really good. Therefore black looked awful as all the great gloss black features got lost. Dark grey (Penta Metal) looked great in some lighting conditions, but in others it looked quite dull. Silver (Lunar Silver) had a similar issue as the Penta Metal in that it looked great in some light, but not others.
I ended up choosing Flame Blue, which isn’t one of my usual colour choices, but it contrasted against the gloss black features and looked great in all lighting conditions.
My main take away was, especially with KIA’s colours, go see all the colour options in person, even if it involves trips to many different dealerships.
October 8, 2022 at 11:17 am #197834My next car is the Peugeot 308 GT Premium and it will be the Olivine Green. Current car BMW X2 in pearlescent arctic white.

Previous car:Peugeot 308 GT Premium 1.2 Pure tech Petrol.October 8, 2022 at 2:16 pm #197844My husband (who used to be on the scheme before he was PIPed) and I have had MB cars since the 1990s so have had many colours. The lighter colours are easier to keep clean. Darker colours show any imperfections more. Also, black cars appear smaller than the same car in white. We try to avoid the drab/grey colours but sometimes have no choice. We do like to have something different. Bright colours seem to be rare, and this is what we like. My first car was purple, albeit dark. My new is Zesty Yellow; some call it green some yellow, it tends to depend on the lighting conditions. looks similar to Mr Bean’s Mini which is Citron Green. When I got my order in at the start of February this colour was only available on the Convertible, so we were going to get British Racing Green IV with white roof and mirrors. I commented on the colour of the convertible saying I would love mine in that colour. The dealer made a call and told us that, that colour was going to be available from March. One advantage of the long lead times, I was able to order in this colour even though it was not in the catalogue

MaccaI recently commented that if we were due to change the car soon we’d likely be coming off the scheme, then the CX-5 re-appeared. If were were in the market now we’d be having a serious look at the Mazda. Their soul red is quite stunning but as our current car is red, I’d be minded to go for something different. I do like silver, it doesn’t show the dirt easily and has a fresh look to it.
We won’t be in the market for a while though so we’ll see what’s available in which colours when the time comes and take it from there.
I do like the idea of something out there like lime green on the right car though ?
October 8, 2022 at 3:29 pm #197854i have been sit testing cars toda following my covid and flu jabs, helped by the fact that most of the dealers i needed are all on one road in chesterfield.
so i now have a list of cars that i can get in and out of and now need to reduce it to a managable test drive list lol.
so part of that is seeing what colours they come in, one contender from today is the skoda karoq se drive auto a bit bigger than i need but the kamiq was a bit low wheras the karoq has the most comfortable drivers seat i have found so far. and theres a special paint available phoenix orange which looks amazing i am waiting to find out how much extra it will cost. i am hoping metallic is free and i will just have to pay the difference between it and metallic which would be £385. which would put the karoq at the top end of my ap list.
the mokka i would have in mamba green which is a nice subtle number lol.
mazda newground cx5 looks good in zircon sand.
October 8, 2022 at 8:48 pm #197877I’m still loving the colour of my current Peugeot 208 GT…
October 8, 2022 at 8:54 pm #197879208 GTs are by far the best looking supermini. Looks great in that yellow too!
If the 308 looked exactly the same, just larger, I would have been very tempted to order.

kinnymy current C3 Aircross is Khaki Grey, but it’s definitely different from last years colour (thats more minty green, mine is proper grey!)
my Tourneo Connect will be Maple Red once I get it – I do like the ‘candy apple’ that is on Mazda’s current models, very nice indeed.
October 9, 2022 at 8:30 am #197890I am picking up a bi tone white with a black roof hyundai i20 on Friday. Not had a white car since my old Ford Orion, which was so long ago I can’t remember the year. My current car is blue

October 9, 2022 at 10:21 am #197892Depending on the car I like what I would describe as quirky quirky colours, such as the yellow on @solent60 208.
I had Ford Kuga a few years back that was that tiger eye orangey colour. My current car is Amazon grey which is a dark green, grey colour depending how the light shines on it.
October 9, 2022 at 3:09 pm #197914Hi Solent regarding the Peugeot 208 gt is the roof black on every model or is it an optional extra. You remember i have ordered the Elixir Red i wonder whether i have made a mistake now i have seen yours but it is too late now the order has gone through.

Tim ; the ‘Diamond Black’ roof is standard on all GT/GT Premium models.
The metallic red version looks terrific with a black roof (and the black wheel arches, etc), so I’m pretty sure you’ve made a great choice… especially when the sun shines on it!
If it’s the GT Premium 130 version you’ve ordered, it also has twin chrome exhausts & black ‘Bronx’ alloy wheels as standard.
