“Julie Lennard, DVLA chief executive, said: “Our online services are the quickest and easiest way to deal with DVLA and customers usually receive their driving and vehicle documents in just five days.

“Remember to always use Gov.uk when using DVLA’s online services.”

Except the on-line ‘service’ doesn’t cover Short-term Medical Driving Licences other than for a very few conditions – “Renew online:  At the moment, you can only renew online if you have diabetes, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, a visual impairment, a sleep condition, or a heart condition.”

I sent the DVLA my renewal forms at the start of March and it’s taken so long for them to process my application (including when the DVLA Medical Assessment teams went on strike for 4 weeks!) that I also received a letter from them demanding an up-dated photograph, and that they’ll cancel my application if they don’t receive that photograph within 14 days!
