When All Cars are Electric, Will The A/P be lower and Cap Be Higher.

At some point all cars will be EV therefore all cars on motability will be EV

As EV are more expensive will the motability increase the cap and what about the advance payment will it be lower  or higher or will they just limit to basic small cars

I dont think EVs need as much maintains and servicing as ICE car so will this also be reflected in our favor

Will there still be over 2000 EV cars on the scheme, i think there may be a lot of chances

Tesla are just about to announce they are producing batteries for less than 100$ per kWh. This is the price where BEVs become cheaper than ICE cars to manufacture, it follows that once all other BEV manufacturers can do the same your standard BEV will be cheaper than the same ICE car. As a result we should see a fall in APs.

Keeping in mind that the car manufacturers do have another 15 years to work with before the (current) 2035 deadline for the ICE ban.  Hopefully, by 2035 Motability will be able to offer the vehicles we need and the AP we can afford.

Hi martino, as advancements are made with the technology, manufacturing processes will become more efficient and bring costs down.

If you think of your question another way. If costs remain as is, with Motability aside, then a complete segment of the automobile sector will disappear. By this I mean lower cost cars.

It’s reported regularly that scientists, engineers, manufacturers, etc are working furiously to evolve the technology and reduce costs. As all of this happens I’m sure that Motability will adjust itself to continue to offer vehicles to suit everyone.
