Menorca Mike – I totally agree with bfoandc – the facts speak for themselves, regardless of the political party. Boris and pals are interested only in using this crisis to score political points to boost their popularity and, thus, their power. Only other motivation is to be able to prove that, whatever Bad Things happen, then it is not their fault. Boris was on TV saying that hitting the target on testing was going to solve the whole crisis. How stupid does he think we are? Solving crisis involves finding a vaccine, supplying ventilators/breathing machines, getting enough protective kit, etc. etc. Then we’ve got to get the economy back working again (God help us with this lot in charge). And doing some real science to make sure it cannot happen again – won’t happen because there’s no money in it.
To see how to do it properly, look at Austria. The reacted instantly; shut everything down at beginning of March. They listened to their scientists and engineers – i.e. the people who actually know about the problem and know how to fix it. Not the Powers That Be who just want to cover their backsides. Austria’s figures now show infections and deaths falling consistently. Moreover, the Austrian death-rate as percentage of population is half that of the UK. So, will we listen to our scientists and engineers? Well, put that question to Boris or one of his chums and see if you get a straight answer.
And I don’t vote Labour. Don’t vote for any of these bullying thugs who are controlling us.
