ok bare with me here…
To all the people who where lucky enough to get massive reductions in the AP of their cars,
If these cars where to be returned the pro-rata refund from Motability would be based on the Offical AP and such these few people could send their cars back for profit…..
Not advising to try it, but in theory is that how it would work out??

Nope, the dealer contributes to the AP so you would get back the AP (pro-rata) that you paid, the amount you pay goes down on the lease agreement.
February 5, 2020 at 10:18 am #105256
NoelOur lease shows only the offical AP, not what we paid to the dealer, so Motability will have received the full AP from the dealer, and have no idea what we paid.
February 5, 2020 at 10:27 am #105259I think your right Noel, you would get a pro rata of the AP you should have paid not what was actually paid. The amount you pay is between you and the dealer, as far as motability are concerned you paid the full AP.

NoelI must stress I’m not doing this, I was just wondering as some on here got BMW’s for £0 AP and if they returned them they would get best part of £2000 back.
No doubt thats why Motability dont like AP discounts

EllySo when you return / change your car you get back the A P you originally paid and a good condition bonus? Have I got that right? If so, I didn’t realise.
February 5, 2020 at 12:10 pm #105306
EllyIgnore my question, sorry, being blonde! You don’t get it back of course.
February 5, 2020 at 12:11 pm #105307
Zuby@Elly, nope just the GCB, the AP is never returned as far as I know
February 5, 2020 at 12:17 pm #105309Does anyone know the dealer groups that do discounts as I’ve never came across them in the Glasgow area ?
I’ve used Arnold clark group for my cars

AnonymousThe answer is simple: you would get the pro-rata amount back of the full (‘book price’) Advance Payment.
So, using your example, if BMW sold you a 3 Series for £0 AP, but it was in the price guide at £1,999; you would get a pro-rata refund based on £1,999. Crafty, eh?
Your Advance Payment goes to the dealership, but it does not go to Motability. Instead, it fills a gap in the dealership’s invoice. For example, the BMW I used above: let’s say it’s worth £24,999 as a Motability sale to the dealer; the dealership would get £23,000 from Motability and £1,999 from you = the invoice amount expected.

WinstonHi Walter!
i tried about a dozen dealerships around the Glasgow area , unfortunately Arnold Shark weren’t willing to do any deals
tried a few independent dealers out towards Edinburgh/Ayrshire and the best they offered was £100 off
so that’s when I got in touch with this forums favourite dealer Roger @ JCT600 in Hull
and the rest is history ??
seems up here in Scotland no one is really willing to do a deal ??

BrydoScotland is a virtual AP discount dead zone, for whatever reason the dealers up here very rarely do deals. I was fortunate to get £600 off our XC60 from Taggarts in Motherwell, but these a few and far between.
February 5, 2020 at 12:39 pm #105316The discussion of pro-rata AP refunds is of course only relevant if you agree a return of the vehicle prior to 3 year anniversary of the lease.

assuming it’s maybe because there’s fewer dealers in Scotland so less fighting over customers

WinstonI don’t know that about Arnold Shark is the biggest dealer in the UK and practically got a dealership on every Street Corner lol
i was in Linwood retail park yesterday and there must be about a dozen dealerships there ( sadly all owned by Arnold Clark )
there is no harm trying as many dealers as you have the energy to, but like Byrdo says any good deals are far and few between

you’d think with it having loads of dealerships they’d fix the potholes in the retail park lol

Elly<p style=”text-align: left;”>Waltersoprano1 … Kuga has great lumbar support, I’m finding it hard to find a car that has as good support now but quite fancy a change and also, Kuga still isn’t in the list yet. Like you I also need Automatic.</p>
