Speed bumps are an absolute pain – the town where my Mum, sister and older brother all live is now awash with them after the Council initially placed speed bumps the length of the main road, then along all the side roads that people took to to avoid the original bumps, and then the new rat runs used to avoid the additional bumps etc etc until most of the town’s roads and side streets are now smothered. People living on the edge of town now shop in other towns rather than crawl along at 10mph to reach the Town Centre, which is now pretty much dead – making the original peed bumps redundant. Genius!
Unfortunately, I still have to negotiate the wretched things in order to visit my family.
