Hi many thanks it has the paddleshift dct its £699 ap.
Brydo, your right in the sense that I do like the scheme, also agree with those that say its not perfect as there are certainly things that could be improved but overall it works for a good number of people who would be far worse if it wasn’t there. Maybe I’m just a cynic but personally haven’t come across that many situations where services being subcontracted out actually make things better for the end user. Adding specifications and minimum requirements is fine on paper but it doesn’t always work in practice, for example the Mrs had a stay in hospital and the food being supplied by a contract company was that bad that even the staff advised people to order in take-aways or that the local council has brought their repairs / maintenance service back in house due to the poor quality and cost cutting used by the contracted company. All companies are out to make money, they can and will cut costs as that is part and parcel of doing business. If Motability can make it work then great but if it doesn’t then everyone on the scheme suffers for it. Leasing companies can offer a wider range of cars as they are not restricted by cost limitations, requirement to offer insurance, all inclusive maintenance etc. I browse another car related forum and some of the people there have found the best leasing prices are restricted by trim, colour, not being able to add options etc as the cars have already been ordered from the manufactures, at least on the scheme if the car is not in group stock you get one built to order. Again with the pay more for insurance for high end cars you are just creating a two tier system, I keep saying this but the scheme (auto boxes aside) treats everyone the same with the only entry requirement being certain benefits. At what point does it stop becoming a way of helping the needy and start becoming a leasing company with added advantages for the wealthy. Regarding the bonus’ I wasn’t aware it was management only, the frontline staff from my experience do a great job and it would be nice for them to get bonuses as they are the ones dealing with customers and without them doing such a good job the management wouldn’t get theirs, whether management deserve it or not is a different thing but that’s the case all over – of course its not right but singling out Motability isn’t going to change things either. No i don’t have a pension but if the one provided by Motability is so far out of touch with most others then it needs looking at and some justification as to why its that way. If I have to wait on the NHS for an op then that’s sadly what it is, if company X offered free healthcare to their workers then every time I buy their product I’m helping someone jump the waiting list when really they should stop doing it and lower the prices instead? The scheme is already making large profits so why force people to choose between moving and having a job – as you said just beacuse other companies do it does it make it right? If the scheme had to save money or close then its a fair argument but that’s not the case. Could be wrong but I remember seeing something in one of the quarterly magazines about who was on the board and sure some of them had disabilities. Increasing the cap has a lot to do with the average wage / man on the street. The scheme is already making money and adding cars with a massive AP is not going to “help” anyone apart from the wealthy whilst at the same time upsetting the public as to why there is need for such expensive cars outside the reach of a lot of them are being offered at cut price amounts. If your in the market for a £60,000 car then its not really for a charity of provide it. Same thing with the buying power argument, Motability will have more clout with the makes they sell more off but cant see Porsche bending over backwards to sell a handful of cars each year. Making it more affordable with regards to automatics and adaptions yes but the overall package is already attractive and cheaper for mainstream makes compared to leasing. Some makes already offer front and rear sensors and standard but insisting on other things as standard is easier said than done, your example of auto boots is ok if its available on its own but what if its part of an expensive option or not an option on that model? Should the manufactures be forced to come up with a new model, give away option packs or does the car simply not appear on the scheme? Fair point on the extensions, just thinking out aloud here but wouldn’t a five year contract result in a higher AP due to depreciation / higher miles? Anyway Brydo, we may be miles away in views but honestly thanks for the replies – really enjoying our debate
Hi Brydo i have some experience of contractors and when its public services these bigger companies and even water gas and railways have share holders when we the public tax payer owned these companies the profits should go back to us or into the service really council services are supposed to be non profit inhouse and accountable to us the voter.
Regarding cars for free i feel embarrassed when i get a new car on motability i no i will be told i should not but i have heard snide remarks said like i will have to have a limp to get a free car its so shocking and this was said about a friend of mine that has polio all his life and is now 65 and he had a bad life from a child in calipers.
But you do not get it this forum is called which motability car and many here are only interested in a piece of mind deal where there’s no credit checks and no worries about losing money at the end of the 3 years and by the way if your mileage is low you can now keep your car i think its for another two years im not sure if you monthly payments go down or not someone might know on here.
I was told by a vw dealer that the polo for uk is now made in south africa and can take more than three months as its very slow shipping why they did not continue making them in spain i do not know. Can anyone tell me where the golf is made is it in europe i hope.
To some who attack or disagree with the mods on here we all may step over the mark sometimes but the mod pop is right in saying this forum is for help with motability cars and not trying to sell into things they will cost disabled more as i learnt the expensive way and will always now use motability while i can still drive.
Tomas, you’ve made your contempt for Motability obvious. Have you stopped to wonder why so many disabled people use the scheme. Many of us have disabilities that would make private insurance far too expensive. Others are unable to work and do not have the credit history to get a private lease agreement. Some of us who are unable to work could still buy second hand cars, but the anxiety and expense attached to running and maintaining that vehicle makes it a poor choice. Most of us enjoy the stress relief of not having to worry about breakdowns and the cost of repairs, tyres etc. We put fuel in, we keep it neat and tidy and we have no further worries. The scheme has it’s problems, a lot of which are currently caused by WLTP regulation changes and the hate campaign that has been successfully waged against diesel engines. The high cost of EV’s and their lack of immediate availability is another factor …. However this does not mean that the overwhelming majority of disabled people aren’t well served by the Motability scheme. You’re welcome to post your views on this forum as long as you’re prepared to do so in a respectful manner. This is something we require of every poster and it is lacking in most of your posts. The purpose of this forum is to provide information and support for Motability clients and their carers. Constructive criticism is fine and we all know that Motability needs it on a number of issues, but this is not a forum for anti Motability agendas.
Here here well said
Why do you have to take away the benefits of a good company staff If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys and i found this out with council contractors they only do whats in the contract and in councils they leave whats not in it when i worked for local gov i can remember that we had good quality control and things were not left for instance our council has had over 4 contractors in grounds maintenance all have been very low quality we now have had serco for 10 years for grounds and refuse they used to sub contract work out and for instance different subbies do hedge cutting twice a year in the summer they would cut a hedge on the same road and because part of it is in another contract leave the rest which when the council had its own workforce with good benefits they would do it all the work needed in other words a happy good workforce with back up from supervisers checking quality is a great investment but sadly its all about money and cutting costs which i have seen standards go down big time.Certain dogma within the tories just did not like workers having protections and a decent job for life and remember the pay was not that high. Now you see local gov have agency workers taking the place of the secure jobs with lower pay than the full time staff and some tell me they were promissed a full time job which never happens and they are very unhappy is this what we really want some do but not if they were doing the jobs.By the way this is what we do not want to see at motability because cheapest is not always the best.
Well motability operations we know need to make a profit im not sure whether like private contractors for councils were made by the tories to make a profit back in the Competitive tendering days in the 1980s and now which many council workers either lost there jobs or had worser working conditions sorry to add a bit of politics but it happened to me. But we know the talk of large Salaries was mentioned by the gov mike betts was one but if profits go back to keep the scheme alive im all for it.
July 5, 2019 at 12:32 pm in reply to: Back against the wall why wont Motabilty treat us fairly? #81918Its a shame you cannot get a camper van on the scheme but cars were mainly only one choice in the 1960-70s a pram type electric and then the plastic pig the scheme has come a long way only for the daily mail to hinder its progress.I know that its been said about the small engine cars but some 1.5 are up to 150 to 182ps so thats enough power to old style 80s and 90s hot hatchbacks so should be able to pull a caravan with no problem i would think, the old big volvo estates used to have i think 2ltr engines and were a good old slogger.
Hi Desmond. I read your review and I’m glad you like your Kuga so far. I have also ordered the chrome blue, it is a stunning colour especially when the sunlight hits it.
Hi Steve great place to live my aunty used to live in Brighton by the way the mini i think there is still £500 off all the range but you will have to ask some have said no and others yes or will match another dealer i find ford dealers not really offering much unless on certain models one told me he has never heard of cash back and anyway they would not do this and that was evans halshaw.
Hi px this is a great forum i have been on the scheme since 2001 and will soon be getting another car soon the new bigger renault clio will not be available till the autumn it has a bigger boot i hear and upmarket trim will be interesting to see.
July 4, 2019 at 11:42 am in reply to: Back against the wall why wont Motabilty treat us fairly? #81697I wonder why the bmw 1 serious automatic is not on the scheme this quarter like said the unaffordable i3 electrics on is seems so strange the way they think.
July 1, 2019 at 5:42 pm in reply to: Ask Motability when the Tesla 3 is coming on the scheme. #81361To be honest motability operations is not interested in helping the planet as it tells me they are run by the banks for profit so thats almost ffff off for us disabled as they see us as profit makers for the banks that let us down in the crash.
Hi Im Jo Ive been reading this forum for the last year or two but never joined up until today but just wanted to vent a little following reading the abysmal Q3 list realised today As my Monika suggests I was born with Spina Bifda hence the username Hope to join in on the discussion if nothing else itll make me feel better Jo
Hi Joe you are right the scheme seems to get worse and the advanced payments on autos that are comfortable the choice is lacking there is a new renault clio coming out in august so auto express says which is better in comfort dept but its not on the scheme yet.
Hi Dave have you tried joining benefits and work web site i have been a member since they started out many years ago and have some help with pip and esa if its ok with the mods on here i will link the site for you as a member it costs me £15 a year http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk just copy and search.
Rico Ok so an ex squaddie mate of mine his dad who lost his legs in second world war should pay 68, to your 61 so he should pay £1000 more over the 3 years than you, just so prices look good for you…… he lost his legs already for you! what more do you want him to give!!!!!!!!!! MY BLOOD BOILS READING THIS I need to chill on come off the computer for the night.
I needed to say this as the tread was closed before i had right of reply you guys have got me wrong i support what the forces do for us all and the homeless servicemen who are living on the streets really need help and not getting it, the thing that something looks like we are paying more needs to change and like said dla pip needs to be more or motability needs to cut advanced payments for all on automatics as we know now the massive surplus they made by over charging us all.
i wouldn’t hold my breath but as a double leg amputee who like many others has no choice but to drive an automatic vehicle it sickens me that a scheme designed for the disabled penalises those who require an automatic to be able to drive and be mobile and given the funds Motability have I’m sure this could be rectified? Ride on rico your right.
It means freedom to get out and about on your own without any help to go perhaps on holiday and its cheaper and better than public transport and even safer from disability hate that many have to put up with.
What happens if all combustion engines are no longer do we not need something different to electric as we might need more terrible nuke power stations to feed us its not been well thought out at all.
Well they have been forced into it by ripping us off like some other mobility companies when you say disabled it means £££$$$ and you need to be ripped off i know not all are like that but i have seen some. Its good news if it happens and good if it preserves motability which is a good thing but its still outdated in its actions and i have come across this, when its working well its ok but when things go wrong they think they know it all.
You can still do if your illness prevents you from going to any dealer but must have go ahead from motability and dealer needs to visit you.If you have had a test drive i see no problem in this and i know now who that person and dealer was its a great shame as she sold many cars on motability this way. I have done this and even not visited the dealer once having the car delivered as well with no problems i have also bought my own cars on finance the same way if the dealer is a long way away.
If you have a test drive at any vw dealer you can ask motability for whats called an off site handover which entails you sending a photo copy of your driving licence card both sides and a photo copy of your award for thats more than 3 years on it i have done this and have the car delivered with any adaptions you have asked for.As i think like some hyundai dealers have closed and now you order online or over the phone it may be the future motability knows this as i have discussed this with them.
