      Well, it’s done.
I am sad to say that our decision to leave the scheme has come to fruition.
We hand the car back tomorrow.

My call with Motability could not have been easier and the young lady I spoke to was an absolute angel.
She really understood my/our predicament, made the whole call as painless as it could have been and could not have been more helpful.
      She was a real sweetheart.

I wish you all well and hope to one day be chatting  away with you again.

      Take care and drive safe.

? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

Sorry to see you go bionic rusty. I haven’t been on the Forum that often recently so I don’t know the back story to your decision but I hope everything works out well for you with your decision.

Just because you’re leaving the scheme doesn’t mean you have to leave the forum pal.

I left the scheme last year for several different reasons but I could see the decline was turning into an avalanche so went private early enough to only suffer slightly from used car prices.

Even so I still pop on here for a look most days, occasionally even post something (like now) ?

Well worth remembering that this is which MOBILITY car and not which MOTABILITY car.

Thank you for the kind messages, peeps.
                    I really appreciate it.

I cannot believe the process happened so fast.
From phone call to hand-back was less than 24hrs.

Again, I have to say that my discussions with Motability were amazing.
I’d go as far to say that I was shocked at how understanding and sympathetic they were.

And to top it off, the door is “fully open to return if circumstances change”.

So, the car has gone and we have a private sale replacement sat on the drive.

                    The reason we did this?
                    Well………
My lifelong plan to make it to retirement fell apart and my employer of 37 years agreed to retire me on ill-health grounds.
My condition is deteriorating which means my mobility is worsening. My surgeons have finally thrown the towel in and I have had the news that no one ever wants to hear. “There is no more that can be done.”. So more more operations. Only monitoring and meds reviews.
My final bastion of hope is that as technology progresses, genetics testing of my condition finally throws up something that will help my doctors manage my twisted skeleton. I should note that, as of today, and after 55 years, I am listed as ‘Condition unknown’. I have a unique genetic code. Not a monicker I am pleased to have. Even more so when you learn that when this happens, the code is ‘shelved’ and only ever researched, medically,  if many, many more are identified.

Due to all of this, I am probably, single handed, keeping the various morphine manufacturers in business. 🙂

So because of all this, my calcs are all about keeping what we have as opposed to what can we have.

And very good points made above. This forum is about more than just Motability. We shall soldier on here.

Apologies for the outpouring. That’ll teach you to ask ‘why?’
                    As you were, everyone ?

Glad for you it went well and easy. Sorry obviously you had to etc and of your condition. My daughter has a severely twisted spine from birth and I know how demanding it can be.

Good luck and pop back to tell us how your doing mate.
