Octopus energy bill came through the other day 9th November to 8th December the cold spell pushed our gas and baby sitting (I call it crowd control) duties push up the PHEV electric bill.

Electric 397.30 kWh (226 kWh charging up PHEV) £79.53

      Electric Export -£15.71

      Gas 1439 kWh £84.06

      Total £147.88

      Monthly standing order £70.00

      Fortunately still £454.47

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

I just worked mine out, Nov 3rd to Dec 4th

Electricity £76.62, Gas £72.82 so £149 total, currently paying £125 a month and about £1200 in credit.

        My ex-wifes for Nov 19th to Dec 8th (19 days) was Elec £64, Gas £63 £127 total.

My electricity were gas were a bit higher than I expected as I’ve had my Autistic son here since Oct 25th, first week cat sitting while I was away then here helping me manage due to being in various splints and casts for about 4 to 5 weeks!.  He’s up gaming at night and I have the heating at a massive 17 to 18c instead of just 15c for me.

He’s still here now bless him!, probably here until the New Year.  I don’t think he’s in any hurry to go home, not while he’s getting fed and has his best friend Xena the cat here 🙂

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

I’m not too keen on the cold either but can mostly manage at 15c wearing a good quality hoodie and compression gloves (Raynauds and a very temperature sensitive broken finger and knuckle!).

I know I have more than enough in credit to cover turning it up but having been raised in the 60-70s when there was no real state handouts, rent or mortgage support and watching my widowed mother raise 4 boys on very little income has left a lasting impression.  My own kids have no idea how bad it was at times, not able to afford coal for the fire or have money to put in the electricity meter, wearing hand-me-downs etc.  But my mum always made sure we went to bed fed and loved, couldn’t ask for anything more than that.

I get billed twice a year so not sure what last months was. However according to the dumb meter the last 5 weeks Its cost £164 (elec £71 & gas £93.

Heating 18-20c and on low if cold, for when our autistic daughter comes home from school, as she has a phobia to wearing much clothing in house.

I also suffer terribley with Raynauds in my hand and feet. My hands can go white, then dark purple patches appear. Only last week Dr gave me 5mg blood pressure tablets to trial, hoping they open up vessels but, not holding my breath.

I have mother in law recuperating with us and have more of the house heated and what was heated is now very warm. Suffice to say the bills are shocking at the moment but we remain in credit.

Also, we have taken part in the recent saving sessions and netted over £45 so far. Nice little kick back.

Our back ground is very similar.

Very similar background as well. Mum asking me to file down the black plastic Co-op tokens to shilling size to put in the gas meter or the slot telly.
