I have a bird box camera with a cable. The problem you will have is power. A cable supplied camera is tiny about half the size of a matchbox.
To get enough power the battery will make the camera quite large. I’m sure they exist but I’d imagine they are expensive and don’t have a great battery life, days rather than weeks, this would mean disturbing the nest to change the battery which would scare the birds off.
My camera came with a 20m power lead which is very thin 5v cable, maybe 2/3mm in diameter. The camera is wireless with a little receiver at the tv end.

My box would be for blue tits have many in the garden and installation no problem can hide cables behind tall bushes my tv would be just 6 feet away

July 7, 2024 at 8:42 am #284228You can connect the camera to an external large capacity battery pack, this will give a much greater running time, there are battery banks for charging phones and laptops with very high capacities that are about £20-£45, these are two on Amazon as an example

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Mike, the camera is on a wall near the conservatory. I watch it on a tv in the back room, it connects via single yellow RCA phono video cable. It’s about 6 feet high and has been in place 3 years without any occupants. I’ve recently put hanging baskets around it. The camera was a present but I think it was around £30.

July 7, 2024 at 10:59 am #284237If your bird box is on a garage wall for example and the garage had mains sockets inside, then a small wide angle spy camera with a dc power supply and wifi video signal is all thats needed.
Prob similar to what @Jojoe has.
