Menorca MikeThe new Clio hybrid automatic will be out next month twice as economical as this John but yes this SUV is good value
August 23, 2020 at 11:12 am #122378The largest value SUV for me is one that can handle my disability needs.?
Unfortunately not many of them with auto boxes for a reasonable AP.?
August 23, 2020 at 1:58 pm #122390Oh go on, the Peugeot e2008 Allure at £1,999.
Now you’ll wonder how I figure out that it represents any value, but that comes from charging the thing at home overnight at an equivalent of under 2 pence per mile, and doing sufficient miles to make it worthwhile compared to running a fossil.
20,000 miles @ 2p per mile = £400, do this for the 3 years and that’s £1200
compare this to a fairly efficient diesel running at 12p per mile (50mpg average)
20,000 @ 12p per mile = £2,400, do this for the 3 years and that’s £7,200
This is of course an extreme, but at what point do you discover that the fossil cars are an expensive luxury if you do more than a few miles?

PhiljbIf it was just down to looks I’d have the 2008 but it needs to be double the size to get both of our equipment in it.
We can just about get buy with our Tiguan.
As for EV’s no thanks although the countries much better then it was regarding charging points, the range anxiety and waiting round for hours at the services would be a nightmare.

I can confirm that the 2008 is a difficult car to get into, it’s a sort of shuffle into the car at strange angles, narrowly avoiding getting jammed under the steering wheel.

HI John, I’m lucky I’ve another year before my next order and the trampling around showrooms looking at unsuitable cars but there’s one car still on Motability that suits me, the VW Touran @ just over £1,000 AP for the SEL auto and I’m hoping that car will still be on in July 21 but it is due to be replace next year and if it is replaced the new model will more than likely be out of my reach AP wise being a new model.
