When one of sons was looking for a new car he checked the road tax situation first and asked me if it was true as seemed ridiculously high, but yep it was bound to happen with so many zero tax rated cars a few years back. The treasury department is balancing the books and they think if you can afford a car even a penny over £40k then you can easily pay more road tax.
It’s something a lot of people don’t think about until the reminder comes through the door. I’m so glad I don’t have to worry about road tax anymore.
