    The £39B is now something like £32B as we have paid money in reducing it. Legally we would be required to pay between 7 and 9 £B so we still have about £24B in hand. The problem is if we leave and don’t pay do you think they will be happy to do a deal with £24B out of pocket?

    There is no doubt in my mind we will pay, one way or another.

    The chat from Trump is and will continue to help the UK and will no doubt be used in the discussions.
