Hyundai Tucson. 1.6 petrol auto 177ps. Covered over 5000 miles. Good mix of town country and motorways. Average 38.5 mpg actual. Pleasing for an SUV with a fair bit of weight and power and a bit more than the 35.8 combined figure on the new EU measurement system. Highs are 45mpg on clear run and 28 on a short nip into town. Unlike my old Octavia and X1 the on board computer understates the fuel consumption by 2 or 3 mpg whereas they overstated by up to 4 or 5 mpg. Similarly the car feels quicker than the 8.9 0-62 and almost as fast as the X1 which had 7.5 seconds. Very good thread.
