It doesn’t have to be connected to your phone. Moreover, it is better if it is not connected, but installed as a black box in your car: my kid had on the previous old car and now on the brand new one. All the mates with mobile phones keep complaining on how sensitive theirs is, but not the box. It is significantly less sensitive.
