So, after the new quarter and all its changes, I went and had a look at our local KIA dealership. I got the saleswoman I really didn’t want as she’s not a fan of EVs and has little concern for Motability, so looking for an EV on the scheme didn’t sit that well with her. I had a sit in the EV3, there’s some things I really liked, physical buttons on the doors for heating seats and steering wheel, the relaxation seats in the GT Line S were a familiar level of comfort. Apparently, the headrests in the rear were a few inches behind where they’d be comfortable but that was the only negative.
We then moved to the EV5, which is definitely much bigger. Lots of space everywhere and the GT Line was still very comfortable with loads of room in the back. The boot is huge. I was a little annoyed that I was flat out told it wasn’t on the scheme, until I told her both APs and she’d looked it up and, grudgingly, unlocked the car.
Id love to be able to have the EV5 GT Line for 3 years but it’d need to have a very unlikely price cut at just the right time. The space, equipment and look of the car I do rather like, price I rather don’t. The EV3 is still an option although the rear seat headrest means it’s not top of an increasingly short list.
I also saw a 24 plate EV 9 GT Line up for sale, at 18 months old it was down to £47k and I was quite sure I could get one cheaper outside Cornwall. However, what started around £74k now available for less than £50k was a healthy third off after 2 years. Worth keeping in mind should I find a spare few hundred grand behind the sofa.
