Here’s my email to the CEO- I will ensure the whole Board receives a copy. How would you feel about an online petition demanding his resignation because he has failed us completely? As a Motability customer for 40 years, I have to say your response to recent fake news about free cars and ‘luxury cars’ has been cowardly, damaging and extremely disheartening and insulting. You could have defended disabled people’s right to use their PIP as they want, to have choice like everyone else and to put right the myths and false information doing the rounds. Instead you have capitulated and removed ‘luxury brands’ and put out an apologetic press release seemingly confirming cynics’ views about the scheme. Surprisingly, you must not understand cars as Alfa Romeo hasn’t been a luxury brand since the 60’s and are, today, Vauxhalls with a different badge. There are incredibly luxurious vehicles available which aren’t the traditional premium brands. The insinuation is, of course, that we, as disabled people, don’t have an entitlement to any form of luxury despite paying for it. Given your capitulation, no doubt driven by a position of protecting your salary and pension, you have betrayed loyal customers and I, for one, will be seeking your resignation so that someone who understands the value of cars for disabled people- yes, even nice ones- and doesn’t play up to a witch hunt.

That’s one very strong letter, I totally except cutting the lease extensions on the old lease contracts was a bit naughty, however, I can understand were Mobility Operation situation, the worst case scenario the government could have completely removed the VAT exemption from the scheme, Mobility had to make a buisness comprimise and protect the scheme. At least we still have a scheme it was designed to protect the most vulnerable which it still does, unfortunately some of us (including myself) are going to be worse off. I strongly believe Mobility Operation have made  the right and fair decision and protect the scheme, at present we are still receiving the full mobility component, however, I believe Mr Timms has some new ideas in store for us next year, if you believe the rumour in the press some of us will no longer be eligible for the Mobility scheme in any shape or form.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
