It’s worth keeping in mind that at 3p per mile EV drivers will still only be paying half what ICE car drivers pay on average in fuel duty to cover the same mileage. On that basis, you can bet your boots that the 3p will increase to 6p in the coming years.
I shall be fascinated to see what this does to EV sales. They are still only 5% of the cars on our roads and they are already off-putting to private buyers due to high up front costs, crippling depreciation, high insurance costs etc etc and this is yet another thing that will give people pause for thought.
